An Amateur, Earnshaw played with Leeds Civil Service in the West Yorkshire League. He made his debut as a twenty-one year, standing five foot nine and weighing eleven stone. Edwards progressed through the Sheffield United Juniors and signed professional forms in August 1975. In his first spell at Bramall Lane he scored twenty-nine goals in seventy League appearances, of which six were as a substitute. He moved to Hull City for £55,000 in August 1978 and at Boothferry Park he continued to build his reputation as a goalscorer with fifty-seven in one hundred and thirty League starts and two from the bench. He returned to Bramall Lane for a second spell when the Blades paid £75,000 for him in September 1981. This time he was even more prolific,scoring one hundred and fourteen goals in one hundred and ninety-one League games, which included eight from the bench. Billy Bremner paid £125,000 to take him to Elland Road in August 1986 and, while scoring some vital goals, he could not cement a regular first-team place and after six goals in twenty-eight League starts and ten more from the bench he was sold to Aberdeen for £60,000 on 21st September 1987. Once more he failed to fire, scoring twice in six starts and three from the bench in the Scottish League, before joining Hull City for a second spell for £50,000 in March 1988. He again struck form for the Tigers and netted twenty-nine goals in fifty-five starts before joining Stockport County in September 1989. He was loaned to Huddersfield Town in March 1990 and scored four goals in ten League games, of which four were as a substitute. After scoring ten goals in twenty-six starts and one from the bench for the Edgeley Park club, he moved permanently to Huddersfield in August 1990. There he scored four goals in ten League starts and eight more as a substitute, but he was loaned to Plymouth Argyle in December 1990 scoring once in three starts, before his contract was not renewed at the end of the 1990-91 season.(Leeds United Player Details)

He joined Leeds straight from school and was an apprentice before signing professional forms in March 1989. Small for a goalkeeper at 5ft 8ins 11st 2lb, he progressed through the Juniors and Reserves to make one appearance for the first team in the Zenith Cup, when Mervyn Day was injured in November 1989. He joined Stockport County on 3rd September 1991 for £5,000 and gave good service, starting one hundred and sixty-three League games and making one substitute appearance in the League. On 3rd November 1997 he moved to Rochdale for £25,000 and once more gave excellent service making two hundred and forty-one League appearances, for Rochdale before moving to Bury in July 2005 on a free transfer, where he was first choice keeper, making twenty-four League starts before sustaining an injury which forced him to retire. Joined United straight from school as a Trainee in 2001. He progressed well through the Juniors and was given his Reserve debut in the final game of the 2001-02 season. He went on to represent the Welsh Under-Nineteens and became a Reserve team regular in his final two seasons with the club, starting more than half the games in that time, but was released at the end of the 2004-05 season. He had trials with Swansea Town and stayed with them for three months, before signing a full-time contract with Llanelli at the beginning of September 2005. He then joined Newport County on loan in January 2006 and was released by Llanelli at the end of the 2005-06 season, having scored once in eight starts and five games from the bench. He was taken on on a full time basis by Newport. He did make one start and had one more from the bench for Carmarthen Town in the 2006-07 season but returned to Newport County.

He left them for Rochdale before fading out further with Boston United

Captain of Leeds and England Edwards is recognised as one of the finest players ever to play for Leeds United. Signed from Chesterfield on 16th March 1925, aged twenty-one and 5ft 8ins and 11st 7lbs, he gave the club fine service which extended into WW2, he then became the Leeds Manager before remaining as trainer or backroom to take his overall service to thirty-five years. He signed professional forms in September 1983 and after establishing himself with the Juniors he made his debut as a substitute before establishing himself in the Reserves. He did go on to start one League game and also appeared once as a substitute for the United first team. He left Leeds in January 1986 to join Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he started sixteen League games and played twice as a substitute before moving to Non-League Cambridge United only to re-emerge as a non-contract player with Crewe Alexandra in September 1987, scoring once in twenty League starts and seven more from the bench.He then joined Non-League Pontefract Colliery, before returning to League football as a non-contract player with York City, in November 1988, where he scored once in thre starts and one game from the bench. In December 1988 he moved to Bury, making two substitute appearances before joining Burnley in July 1989. It was a Turf Moor that he became a crowd favourite and scored twenty goals in seventy starts and twenty-nine games as a substitute, before leaving for Hong Kong. A product of the Bradford City Juniors system, Ellam signed professional for them in May 1961. He scored twelve League goals in one hundred and forty-nine starts before moving to Huddersfield Town in January 1966. He stayed over six years at Leeds Road, scoring eight goals in two hundred and six League starts, before Leeds signed him in August 1972. He made nineteen starts and had two games from the bench in all competitions in a two year stay at Elland Road, spending most of his time in the Reserves before returning to Huddersfield Town in July 1974. He joined his hometown team as an apprentice and turned professional in August 1976. He became an England Youth international and scored seven League goals in twenty-five starts and six League games from the bench, before leave his native heath to become an itinerant seldom staying with one club for longer than a year. He moved to Sunderland in November 1977 and had scored thirteen goals in forty-five League games, two of which were as a substitute, before joining Leeds in October 1979. He scored twice in seven starts and four games from the bench at Elland Road before leaving for Blackpool in November 1980. The sea-breeze must have been to his liking as he stayed more than a year, scoring six goals in thirty-two League games, including five from the bench, before joining Crewe Alexandra in March 1982. Four months later he joined Wimbledon, after failing to score in any of his eleven League starts. He managed three goals in four starts and five from the bench in the League, before he left for Non-League Gray's Athletic. He rejoined his native Bury, in August 1983, where he had his best spell, scoring thirty-two goals in eighty League starts and three games from the bench. He moved to Carlisle United in June 1985 but again failed, scoring twice in nine League games, which included one from the bench. This saw him move to Bolton Wanderers in October 1985 where he failed to score in five starts and three games from the bench in the League and saw him loaned to Burnley in August 1986, where he scored twice in six starts and two games from the bench in the League. He joined Stockport County in October 1986 and had a little success, scoring eight goals in thirty-eight starts and eleven from the bench in the League. However he returned to Bury as a non-contracted player in August 1988 and managed just two substitute appearances without scoring. Two months later he joined Wigan Athletic and scored six League goals in twenty-four League starts and five games from the bench, but left at the end of the season for Non-League. After being on the Leeds books from the age of nine, Evans played with Beeston Juniors and then joined Rothwell Athletic where he formed a life-long friendship with Alan Smith as they both joined Leeds from Rothwell Athletic in 1997 as trainees. He featured regularly at Youth and Reserve level before finally making his debut as a substitute for Matthew Jones in the European Cup Third Round Qualifying Round Second Leg game at 1860 Munich. He followed this up with a League Debut against Manchester City, when he again came on for Matthew Jones. He was allowed to leave for Huddersfield Town on 9th August 2001. After being a regular for the Terriers in his first season, Evans did not respond to early season treatment and in November had to undergo surgery on his knee and consequently missed the whole of the 2002-03 season. After thirty-seven starts with Town, he was not retained at the end of the season and was given a free transfer. He joined Blackpool on 19th August 2003, where he was initially on a one month contract. He then signed a new contract with then manager Steve McMahon, until the end of the season with an option for a further year. Even though a knee injury restricted him to just twenty-two league starts that season, in May 2005, new boss Colin Hendry had no hesitation about handing him a new deal to June 2006, which also included the option for a further season. Unfortunately, in February 2006 he was forced to retire from football when he was unable to overcome his injury problems after forty-three League starts and two from the bench. A 6ft 2ins 12st10lb Welsh Youth International, who captained the Welsh Under-Eighteen side and gained caps as an Under-Sixteen, who went on to win four Welsh Under-Twenty-One Caps, joined Leeds as a trainee in 1997. He was the Leeds Under-Nineteen Player of the Year in 1999 and made his Under-Twenty-One Welsh debut soon after. This was in a 2-6 defeat in Ferrara, in a substitute appearance against Italy, and was soon followed by a start and a first international goal at Wrexham in a 1-2 defeat against Denmark. He progressed through the Leeds Juniors, and into the Reserves where he became a fairly regular player, but, due to the vast amount of young talented players on their books at the time, did not make their first team and was released at the end of his Traineeship. On 17th January 2000, he had been loaned to Swansea City and made two appearances for their first team. After his release he trained with Cardiff City who signed him on a two year contract in August 2000 and he went on to score five goals in thirty-five League appearances for them, helping them to gain promotion in 2000-01. However in his second season he could not get a game after the club brought in new players to maintain their new status. He was loaned for one month to Conference club, Boston United, where he made one appearance, before joining Southern League Premier side Merthyr Tydfil in the next season. He remained at Merthyr for two years before signing for Newport County in June 2004. He played fourteen games for County without scoring until he returned to his hometown to spend three seasons there, scoring twelve goals in forty-six starts and eight games from the bench until, at the age of twenty-five he decided to emigrate to Australia. He played with Rochedale Rovers and later coached several clubs in the Brisbane area.

The 6ft 3ins 14st keeper started in South Africa and played one hundred and forty games with Witts University before Leeds brought him in August 1995 to provide cover for the goalkeeping position. He made just five starts in the Reserves in 1995-96 season and with Nigel Martyn and Mark Beeney in good form, and injury free, his chances were few but he was once the unused substitute for the first team and played just once for the Reserves. He was loaned to Crystal Palace from 19th March to 31st May 1996 but did not play for the first team. He left Leeds for Bradford City in March 1997, but once more he failed to start a League game and after being loaned to Supersport United in Pretoria, from 1998 to 1999, Mamelodi Sundowns, also of Pretoria, in 2001-02 and Jomo Cosmos in Johannesburg from 1st August 2001 until he was signed on a free transfer by Huddersfield Town on 22nd March 2002 after thirty games with them. He did not stay long at Huddersfield, moving to Sheffield Wednesday on 12th July 2002, without making a first team appearance. He managed seven starts in the League while at Hillsborough before being released at the end of the 2002-03 season after he fractured his pelvis. After recovering, he joined Rushden and Diamonds FC on a free transfer on 15th October 2003 and had started two League games before he left on 1st December 2003. He joined Non-League Bath City in January 2004, where he amassed one hundred and eighty games before retiring in April 2009.
